BARRI LYN FRIEDLAND specializes in the representation and counseling of employers in all aspects of employment law, including wrongful termination, employment discrimination, wage and hour issues, harassment litigation and training, unfair competition, personnel policies, workplace investigations and employee discipline and discharge. She also has experience handling traditional labor matters. She has represented employers in numerous discrimination and harassment lawsuits, as well as before administrative agencies. She also has significant experience in state and federal wage and hour law, having worked on class action litigation and successfully defended employers in hearings before the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement. Immediately before joining BPDZ&Y, Ms. Friedland worked as Vice President and Senior Employment Counsel for Union Bank of California. Prior to that, she was associated with several large national law firms specializing in employment litigation.
Ms. Friedland received her B.A. degree in English with Honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara where she was elected Phi Beta Kappa. She received her M.B.A. with a concentration in Human Resources Management from the Claremont Graduate School in 1990. Ms. Friedland received her J.D. degree from the University of Southern California in 1996. While in law school, Ms. Friedland served as judicial extern to the Hon. Edward Rafeedie of the United States District Court for the Central District of California. She was also a Moot Court Semi-Finalist and Brief Award winner and a member of the Moot Court Board. |
