Harry
A. Zinn specializes in the representation of employers in all areas of employment and labor law, with particular emphasis in the areas of wrongful discharge, employment discrimination, and personnel decision-making. Until 1999, he was a Partner in the Employment Law Department of the international law firm of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, where he practiced for nearly 16 years.
Mr. Zinn has substantial experience in negotiating and drafting executive employment and severance agreements, performing personnel policy audits, and advising employers regarding complex discipline and discharge issues. Mr. Zinn’s clients include high technology companies, law firms, sports and entertainment entities and individuals, health care providers and medical research institutions, multinational manufacturing companies, and insurance companies.
Mr. Zinn also practices in the area of sports law. His sports clients include the Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago Cubs, and Milwaukee Brewers.
For the sixth consecutive year, Mr. Zinn recently was named a California Super Lawyer in the field of employment and labor law, a designation awarded to the top 5% of California attorneys based on a survey of all California lawyers.
Mr. Zinn is a past chair of the Legal Advisory Committee for the Anti-Defamation League’s Pacific Southwest Region. He currently is a member of the Board of Directors of UCLA Hillel. He also has served as a member of the UCLA Alumni Association Board of Directors. He has traveled extensively in Eastern Europe and has met with former Soviet government officials in St. Petersburg (on a pro bono basis) in a successful attempt to secure the emigration of a Russian citizen to the United States.
Mr. Zinn received his B.A. degree in 1981, summa cum laude, from the University of California at Los Angeles, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received his J.D. degree in 1984 from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall). While there, Mr. Zinn was a member of the Moot Court Board and served as an extern to the Honorable Cecil F. Poole, United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. |
